Note to Dad

Let me begin this post by explaining that Lexi LOVES to draw pictures and write notes to people. It's her thing. She knows how to spell a lot of words, but not to the extent of her expansive vocabulary. So, I usually spend a large portion of my day spelling out the dictionary for her. She follows me around the house with a pen and paper while I dictate the correct spelling of whatever it is she wants to write.

That being said, Kourt LOVES to do whatever Lexi does. She wants to be just like her big sister. Except, Kourt hasn't quite developed writing skills as advanced as her older sister yet. So, Kourt will bring me a piece of paper, and usually a marker, and she dictates what she wants me to write for her.

This evening, after Jeremy came home from work, he went outside to do a bit of work. We're trying to get everything ready for landscaping, and he wanted to take advantage of the daylight. Kourt was not happy about her dad going back outside to work. She opened the blinds in her bedroom and stood there watching him on the tractor. I was in the other room, when she came running to me with a marker and a piece of paper. This particular piece of paper had a note written earlier today to her cousin Olivia in green marker.
Kourtney stood in front of me, almost in a panic, and said....

Kourt: Mom. MOM! MMMMOOOOMMMMM!!!!!

Amanda: (I look up from what I'm doing) What Kourt?

K: I need you to write a note to dad. RIGHT NOW MOM! PLEASE! (she's actually quite polite most of the time)

A: OK, what do you want it to say?

K: Jeremy Heslop. I hope you come inside. Love, Kourt

A: (giggle, giggle, chuckle, laugh) OK, you want me to write what again?

K: (very impatient tone) Jeremy Heslop. I hope you come inside. Love, Kourt

A: OK Kourt (as I write the requested message on the back of the note to Livi in orange marker) There you go. (as I hand her the note)

She ripped it out of my hands, and took off to her bedroom. Then I heard some loud banging, and her yelling the word DAD over and over and over. I tiptoed back to the bedroom and couldn't suppress my giggling. I came to get the camera, went back to the bedroom, and she was still there. She took her note, held it up to the window, and proceeded to try and get her dad's attention. It was so funny and cute. (Jeremy was on the noisy tractor and oblivious to the whole episode.)

Gotta love this girl! There's never a dull day around here!

(Yes, her hair is an absolute mess.....it was 6 pm.....sue me. And yes, in case you were wondering, that is in fact purple marker on her chin.)

Ah what a cutie. I think your family would love a trip to Disney World! Everyone said the little kids wouldn't have fun, but I think it was more about the experience of meeting all the characters while they are still little enough to believe it's really them. We didn't go on a lot of rides, but just being there was awesome! You should def. plan a trip there!
