Wow, things have been so crazy lately. This isn't another pity party, but a lot of rambling and venting. I apoligize in advance if there are spelling issues......the spell check isn't working? So, here goes.
First off, my dad is still in the hospital. :( BOO! He has pancreatitis. The Dr. say it usually takes 3 days to 3 weeks to recover, but can last up to 6 weeks in severe cases. But, basically all you can do is nothing. So, for the last week, my poor dad has sat in the hospital hooked up to an IV and hasn't been able to eat since last Saturday. And, it looks like he'll be there for at least another week as well. He's in so much pain, and I feel so bad for him. Hopefully, he'll get better soon and be able to come home. My girls miss jumping on grandpa's belly and playing with him. Fortunately, he's on the surgical floor at the hospital and not with all the sicko's and they even let us take the kids to visit. Most areas of the hospital, you have to be 13 to visit, so we are grateful the girls have been able to go see their grandpa almost every day.
So, now for my crazy weekend. Friday consisted of doing my dad's payroll at his office, going to my brother Wesley's basketball game, and my nephew Tim's game before that (love watching the boys play ball), visiting grandpa, and off to the "movie store" to rent some movies for the kids (Lexi has this new found obsession with The Land Before Time movies, and I swear there's like 20 of them........no idea how that one started).
Saturday, my wonderful sister Megan threw a baby shower for Andrew and me. It was so fun and we got some really cute and greatly appreciated stuff. Here are some of my favorites things: Our friends David and Dianna provided Jeremy's favorite thing......Bronco stuff for his future football player. Jeremy isn't obsessive about sports, but he really loves the Denver Bronco's. Isn't that tiny little football cute. It's only like 3 inches long and so squishy.
This is a Mini-Missionary piggy bank (hence the slot in his head). He has a name tag that says Elder on it, and a Book of Mormon in one hand with the other extended out ready to shake. My girls have been carrying it around all weekend like a doll.
This is the softest blanket ever. I wish you could touch it through your computer. It makes we want to snuggle with my sweet baby boy all day long.
I love little baby shoes and these sunglasses. Too cute! I also got some really cute clothes! I am so grateful for such good friends who were so kind to me and my boy.
Jeremy was so sweet and took Kourtney grocery shopping while Lexi went with me to the shower. I love handing the list over to him, and knowing that I won't have to go, and he does such a good job too! Then, after the shower, we went to dinner for Lexi's Birthday and then off to see grandpa @ the hospital again. Jeremy and I had a meeting to go to Saturday night, but we ditched it with good cause. We knew that Sunday would be insanely busy and Jeremy is gone this whole week, so we needed some family time Saturday night, and needed to celebrate with Lexi. So, after visiting my dad, we went to Dairy Queen for some ice cream. I know.......it's freezing outside, and we're eating ice cream. But it was so YUMMY! Then after getting the kids to bed, I made Lexi's cake. It was the first one I've ever made with a face on it and I was pleased with how it turned out. This was also the first time I followed the directions. Usually I just look at the picture and then wing-in. But this time, I really took my time and my OCD really came out.
Sunday was really busy. We did the birthday stuff in the morning, then off to church. After church, we hurried home, and ate really fast. Then, up to the hospital. My dad wanted to see Lexi for her birthday. We were only able to stay for about 30 minutes because we had to hurry back home. Jeremy and I had to talk at a Stake Fireside last night. SCARY!!! I thought that I would be exempt from stuff like that since my dad is the Stake President, but obviously I was wrong. My dad swears he had nothing to do with it, he just approved it. I told him next time not to approve! Lexi and Drew were so good, and sat so quietly with my family. Now Kourtney, well lets just say that she was a little special last night (a terror is more like it, but I'm trying to think positive). Megan walked the halls with her during my talk, and then when I was done, Kourt escaped and ran up on the stand with me. I tried to keep her quiet and reverent, but I wasn't very successful. At one point in time, she actually pushed the button to raise the wheel-chair lift on the stand. Embarrassing! But, we made it through. Then, off to my parents for cake and presents. After that, home to get ready for bed and pack Jeremy up.
Jeremy left at about 4:45 this morning for Orlando. He has a work conference there this whole week and won't be home until Saturday night. :( Another BOO!! Then, lucky me, just found out I have to talk in Sacrament meeting on Sunday. The ward Relief Society presidency is talking and one of the counselors will be out of town. So, as the secretary, I have to take her place. Tripple BOO!!! (I guess Jeremy being a counselor in the Bishopric doesn't make me exempt from ward talks either) And, they gave me a completely different assignment to speak on so I can't even recycle my talk from last night. Oh well! I guess that just means less playing on the computer this week! Enough rambling for now!

Wow! Manda you have your hands full. I hope your dad is getting better. And how fun, a baby shower! CUTE! CUTE!
wow you sure were busy. Sorry i couldnt make your shower, we were in snowflake. I hope your dad gets better soon.
Maybe I will tell dad that you need to talk at Stake Conference!! ha ha! You are such a good speaker, that is why they keep asking you. Maybe if you did something physco in your talk they wouldn't ask you anymore! The wheelchair lift made me laugh! Sorry I tried as long as I could...she just want to "help mama talk...sit with mama...help mama talk!" Love that little girl! You forgot to post the pic of Kourt with her hand in her diaper!
What a crazy weekend! My mom said you and Jeremy did a really good job at the fireside. Good luck with Jeremy gone this week. I'm gearing up for Randy going out of town quite a bit, so I'll feel your pain soon enough (minus 1 kid and a talk to give...I spoke in church 2 weeks ago.)
