A few weeks ago (September 18th) was Grandparents Day at Lexi's school, Ruth N. Bond Elementary. Now, for those of you who don't know, the school is actually named after my great-grandmother. I always loved that little tid-bit of trivia when I attended there......kind of like my 'claim to fame'.
We invited my grandma, Lexi's great-grandma Whipple to go with her. The had a little program for everyone in attendance, and then they even recognized my grandma and Lexi as being descendants of the school's namesake. I think my grandma really enjoyed going, and was able to see lots of old friends. Lexi was a little shy during the whole event, I was told. But, after school was out, she couldn't stop talking about it. So thanks Grandma Whipple for being such a good sport and going to school with Lexi for the day! My mom also really wanted to eat lunch with Lexi at school that day, but she is a teacher at a different elementary school, and their lunch times didn't coincide, so she wasn't able to. She actually got away from her school for a bit, and came over, but amidst the chaos, she couldn't find Lexi or Grandma Whipple anywhere. Oh well.....maybe next year.
Here is a picture from their special day. The portrait is of my great-grandma, Lexi's great-great grandma Bond. She is my Grandma Whipple's mother......does that make any sense? This portrait hangs in the school near the office. They took it down off the wall for the picture, and Lexi thought it was so exciting. She felt so special the entire day!
Aren't grandparents the best?! We feel so lucky and spoiled to live near so much family. Thanks again Grandma!

Wow! I didn't know that Amanda...that is awesome!
That is so fun! Also it is kind of crazy how much your Grandma Whipple looks like her mother.
