Friday night (Oct. 30) was the Halloween Carnival at Lexi's school. Since Jeremy and I are such scrooges about Halloween, we don't really trick-or-treat. Our kids get enough junk between the Trunk-or-Treat and the Carnival, plus all the leftover candy at grandma's house. So, we don't really do the trick-or-treat thing. (I know, I know.....bah humbug to you too......I just don't like Halloween.) Plus, they think that trunk-or-treat is the same as trick-or-treating......so why create more work for myself when they are perfectly happy and content with what we do.
So, back to the carnival, we got the kids dressed up. The girls wanted to paint their faces like Mulan, so this was my sad attempt. Don't judge my painting skills, I am about as far from an artist as they get. I have absolutely no painting skills, AT ALL.
Lexi's face was all white at one point, but she didn't like the feel of the paint. So she just wanted red cheeks and lips instead.
And for the record, Drew was a very cranky tiger. A friend gave me this costume a while ago, so we decided to recycle Drew's costume too. (Why spend money on a holiday I can't stand if I don't have to, right?) He did have little whiskers at one point, but he quickly rubbed them off.
And here are all three of my little monsters! They had a great time, so that's what counts.

Trunk-or-Treat is totally the same as Trick-or-Treating! So don't feel bad! And like you said, if the kids are satisfied, then who cares.
Your kids look adorable in their costumes!
Garrett's school doesn't do a carnival! I think that is crazy. I was so sad. I LOVE Halloween! More than any other holiday lol. I think next year we'll go to Kirtlands Halloween carnival if I can't convince Aztec to do something for families. The kids looked adorable! Great job on the face painting.
I'm totally with ya! I only did all the cutesy things I did so it would get here and over with faster! I love Thanksgiving and Christmas! They're not only fun, but special! No school beats RNB for their carnival! We tried to talk our kids into going to the movie and ditching the whole idea of the trick or treat! We almost had them convinced! Maybe next year! Your kids are cute and I'm glad they had a great time!
