Another Year at State Track

We had a great weekend at the State Track Meet! On Friday, my amazing niece Melanie once again took first place in the Shot Put, and third place in the Discus. She placed the exact same last year in each event as well. Way to go Mel!

Friday evening, my nephew Timothy, and my brother Wesley ran the 1600 relay. They didn't place, but it was still fun cheering them on.

And Wesley took second place in the javelin (he placed third last year). The weekend before at the District meet, he dislocated his shoulder and wasn't able to throw, so we were so relieved that he had healed enough to even throw at state. But Wes did great, and we are proud of him! What a great way to go out your senior year. Sadly, I don't have any pictures of Wes on my camera. It was freezing Saturday morning, and we were all bundled up tight. I took a picture of the family before he started throwing, then packed it away to keep my fingers warm.

And yes, we were all wearing shorts too. The weather was perfect on Friday while Mel was throwing, but Saturday that NM wind kicked into high gear and chilled us all to the bone. But, despite the nasty wind, it was a great weekend in Albuquerque.
