Every year, the Kindergarten classes at Lexi's school take a trip to the Albuquerque Zoo. Alexis really wanted everyone to go (OK, and her paranoid overprotective mother wanted to go too), so last Friday the whole family packed up and took a trip to the Zoo. I was a little hesitant at first because out of the previous three weekends, two had been spent in Albuquerque (youth temple trip and state track). I wasn't too anxious to make that drive yet again, but I'm so glad we went.
Lexi rode the bus down with her class, and we met her at the zoo. The weather was perfect, the animals were all out and visible, and the kids loved every minute of it. The Albuquerque Zoo really is one of my favorites. It is just the right size for little kids, but still has all of their favorite animals. Drew's favorites were the Seals and Sea Lions. We could hardly drag him away from watching them. Kourtney like the elephants the best, and kept cracking up at the momma elephant throwing dirt on her baby. Lexi loved the flamingos because they stand on one foot (and partly because they are pink).
The girls took turns with the camera, and I think took a picture of every animal we saw. But, Jeremy and I did manage to steal it away a couple of times to get a couple of pictures of the kids.
After the zoo, Jeremy met up with a client from work for a quick appointment while the rest of us relaxed in the car for a few minutes. Then, off to Chuck E. Cheeses for some more family fun. Our kids love going there, but since we don't have one locally, we thought they would enjoy the extra treat. Originally Lexi wanted to ride the bus back home, but when we mentioned pizza and games, she quickly changed her mind. I don't blame her either.......pizza and games, or a happy meal on the bus.......is there really any question?!
The kids had a blast, and Jeremy and I actually did too. We got there fairly early, so the place was practically empty. I think Drew rode the Bob the Builder tractor at least a dozen times. And both of the girls just ran from game to game to game. I didn't take my camera inside, so no pictures of that, but everyone had a great time!
All in all, it was another great day in Albuquerque! Three out of four weekends spent in Albuquerque...........definitely worth it.

Believe it or not, I have never been to the Albuquerque zoo. I think thats kinda crazy, especially since the zoo is always one of my kids (and mine too) favorite places to go!
Glad it was a great family day!

I've never been to the querque zoo. Looks like it was fun!
Looks like fun times! I love to be an overprotective parent too, it is good for them though!
Oh good times! You aren't over protective! I was a chaperone to our so sad pathetic zoo and uh I don't think I'll let any of my kids EVER go on a fieldtrip without me! How fun to go to Chuck E. Cheese too! What fun parents!
